Power Alliance was founded with the purpose of making parents aware of the dangers their children face in today’s digital world and empowering them with the knowledge necessary to protect them. The Internet has redefined communications, shrank the world we live in, advanced learning, increased productivity and so much more. At the same time, it has created an enormous, powerful platform for sexual predators to ply their trade.
The magnitude of this problem and pervasive presence of sexual predators online far exceeds most parents’ perceptions. If you think this will not or cannot touch the lives of your children, think again. If your children instant message, text with their mobile phone or belong to social networks such as MySpace or Facebook, it is quite likely they’ve already encountered unwanted solicitations.
Power Alliance has become my passion. Through a healthy dose of skepticism, a diligent, dedicated Internet Crimes Unit at my local police department, and the help of an inquisitive, Internet-savvy friend, my family narrowly escaped personal tragedy.
